SMS Consent & Messaging Policy
How Instavite handles SMS messaging and ensures proper consent for text message communications.
Instavite offers optional SMS text messaging to help event hosts send invitations and reminders to their guests. We take consent seriously and require explicit confirmation before any SMS messages are sent.
Step 1: Host Attestation
When an event host adds a guest with a phone number, they must check a consent checkbox confirming they have permission from that guest to receive SMS messages.
This checkbox appears whenever a phone number is entered for a guest.
Step 2: First Message Disclosure
The first SMS message sent to any guest includes:
- Clear identification that the message is from Instavite
- The event host's name (so the guest knows who invited them)
- Instructions to reply STOP to opt out at any time
Step 3: Easy Opt-Out
Recipients can opt out at any time by replying STOP to any message. They will receive a confirmation and no further messages will be sent to that number.
- Event Invitations
One-time invitation messages sent on behalf of event hosts, including event details and RSVP link.
- Event Reminders
Reminder messages sent 24 hours before the event (if enabled by the host).
- RSVP Confirmations
Confirmation messages when a guest RSVPs to an event.
Message frequency: Typically 1-3 messages per event. We never send marketing or promotional messages.
STOP to Opt Out
Reply STOP to any message to immediately unsubscribe. You'll receive a confirmation and no further messages will be sent.
